Poipu Beach, Kauai, Hawaii…Sheraton Kauai Resort has welcomed families to Hawaii’s “Garden Island,” Kauai, for more than 30 years.  The 412-room Sheraton Kauai Resort, with its many improvements and amenities, provides several services and incentives designed for family vacationers. 

Children 17 and under stay free in their parents’ room with existing bedding.  Nearly half of the resort’s rooms offer two double beds, and in the ocean wing, several of the rooms include hide-a-bed loveseats. Sheraton Sweet Sleeper® Cribs are complimentary, but there is an additional fee for rollaway beds.  More than half of the resort’s rooms are capable of connecting.  The Ocean Wing rooms share a common foyer with one other room, which allows both privacy and ready access to one another for families or friends traveling together.

All guest rooms are equipped with mini refrigerators, Sony Play Stations, iron and ironing boards, hair dryers, color televisions, in-room movies and coffee makers. In addition to regular laundry and dry cleaning service, the resort also provides a coin laundry.

The resort’s main dining room, Shells Steak & Seafood Restaurant, open for breakfast and dinner. Kids 5 and Under Eat Free and kids 6-12 Receive 50% Off Selected Menu Items with Child-Size Portions. The Oasis Bar & Grillat the Beachfront Pool and The Point, Cocktails, Etcetera provide a delicious selection of family lunch and snack favorites. Lunch is also available at the Garden Terrace by calling room service.

The 20-acre ocean-side resort offers a number of activities and services for children from infants to adulthood.  There are two fresh-water swimming pools, both have toddler wading pools.  The Beachfront Pool features a popular slide and a whirlpool for relaxing while the Garden Pool is surrounded by waterfalls.  The resort’s Beach Activities Center has rental equipment for snorkeling and boogie boarding, plus cabanas, beach chairs, umbrellas and lots of sunscreen lotion.  Lessons are offered daily, by reservation, for Scuba Diving, Scuba, and Surfing.  The crescent-shaped white-sand Poipu Beach fronting the resort is a ready-made, quarter-mile sandbox.  The ocean offers great snorkeling sites, and frequent wildlife visitors such as the endangered green sea turtles and monk seals, breaching whales (in season) and pods of spinning dolphins

If mom and dad want some free time, the resort has a Keiki Aloha Club for children 5 to 12 years of age, offering either half day or full day sessions.  Actually, the children enjoy the many activities from lei making and other crafts, to water sports, ukulele lessons, fishing, Hawaiian games and storytelling so much they encourage their parents to find something to do by themselves.  Babysitting service is available through the concierge desk.

The Sheraton Kauai Resort also offers guests a fitness center, three tennis courts and a Guest News Library with books, newspapers, board games and several computers with Internet and email access. 

The island of Kauai provides families with an infinite selection of soft-adventure activities, on land, on sea, in the air and underwater.  For example, in addition to the many different water sports there is hiking, biking, bowling, golf, tennis, horseback riding and pony rides, a children’s museum and Kamalani Playground.  Shopping malls have regularly scheduled, free entertainment, children’s fun centers and other family activities.  Which of the many activities and tours available you choose to do depends on individual preferences and the children’s age.  For those renting cars, most of the car rental companies rent child seats as well.  Prices quoted for child seat rentals range from $8 per day or $40 per month.  The relaxed pace of Kauai, the spirit of its people, and the beautiful environment and culture of the island make it a great place to learn new things while you’re having fun, whether it's experiencing the Koloa Heritage Trail, kayaking the open Pacific Ocean, snorkeling, ATV rides in the beautiful lush Kaua’i hills, or trying the new zipline adventure that the island now offers.
